The Nyimba – Luangwa Bridge stretch on the Great East Road has been listed on the road accident hot spots in the country.
Acting Deputy Director for Clinical Care and Diagnostic Services in the Ministry of Health, Daniel Makawa revealed this during a media workshop.
Dr. Makawa says that the ministry has decided to fully equip all health facilities, which are in accident hot spot areas with emergency facilities like ambulances.
And Dr. Makawa indicated that health facilities like Nyimba district hospital will be equipped with health experts that will handle accident cases, which are supposed to be handled by a second level hospital.
He explained that victims of accidents that happen on the Nyimba-Luangwa stretch are sometimes referred to St. Francis Mission Hospital depending on the complication of the case.
Dr. Makawa was responding to a question on why most victims of road accidents that happen in Nyimba are referred to St. Francis Mission Hospital.
