Irate farmers on Thursday stormed the office of the District Agricultural Coordinator in Lundazi district to protest over the decision to suspend the distribution of inputs under FISP, the Farmer Input Support Programme by OMNIA fertilizer.
Chazevu Cooperative Chairperson Richard Lungu and Bokosi Cooperative Secretary, Lambson Zyambo told Breeze FM Correspondent in Lundazi Mtambwa Nkhoma that they wanted to know why Omnia had suspended the distribution exercise.
The duo expressed sadness on the development as it is the second time that it is happening.
The two cooperative leaders said that Senior Agricultural Officer, Fredrick Mwansa had informed them that the problem is national.
And the two cooperative leaders also complained that they had been given maize seed without fertilizer and told to use their own transport in ferrying the inputs, which they described as discouraging.
When contacted for a comment, Lundazi District Agricultural Coordinator, Philemon Lungu said the suspension exercise by Omnia has not come to his attention.
Mr. Lungu referred all queries to the Provincial Agriculture Coordinator, who could not be reached for comment by News time.
