Only 60 thousand Kwacha out of 22 million Kwacha has been released for the construction of dormitories at Chipata Trades Training institute.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo told Breeze News that the payment of funds to the project is not sufficient.
Last month, Chipata Trades Training Institute Principal, Mirriam Mwale indicated that once completed, the hostels will accommodate 320 male students, while the female students will continue occupying the old hostels.
And Mr. Kasolo explained that despite struggling to release funds to the province, government has no intention of abandoning any projects.
He acknowledged that most developmental projects in the province have delayed to be completed because of the delay by government to release funds.
Mr. Kasolo cited the construction of the Great East Road and Chipata- Chadiza, Chipata- Vubwi roads as projects whose contracts will be extended due to delayed works caused by financial and other external challenges.
