The Ministry of Health in Eastern Province is expected to recruit over 300 student nurses in the three nursing schools in Chipata and Katete districts.
Provincial Medical Officer, Abel Kabalo told Breeze News that the Ministry will recruit 170 for Chipata Central Hospital, 100 for Mwami Hospital and about 60 students for St. Francis Mission Hospital.
Dr. Kabalo explained that the recruitment exercise is being done in a transparent and objective manner with the presence of Authorities from ACC, Anti- Corruption Commission and Department of Labour.
Dr. Kabalo says the Ministry has increased its classroom and accommodation space and has engaged enough tutors at Chipata Central Nursing School because the number of recruits will be increasing every year in order to give chance to a lot of people who want to become nurses.
He explained that only people who pass the test during interviews will be selected to pursue their nursing career.
And Dr. Kabalo says the Ministry does not misuse money they get through selling of application forms adding that the money is used to accommodate and feed applicants and monitors during the interviews.
He added that the money is also used for administrative work like buying reams of paper for use when writing tests during the interviews.
