Over 50 people eligible to vote in Paramount Chief Mpezeni’s area might not exercise their democratic right in the 2016 general elections.
This is because these affected people are unable to access voter registration centres, which are far from their areas.
Chipata Central Constituency CDF, Constituency Development Fund Committee Chairperson, Philemon Mwale confirmed the development.
Mr. Mwale told Breeze News that villagers in Mteleza and Chimalo areas have been asking the Chipata Central Constituency Office to assist them with transport so that they can come into town to obtain the documents.
He noted that it is sad that Chipata Central Constituency does not have enough mobile registration centres to assist people in such areas.
But when contacted for comment, District Education Voter Trainer, Taonga Kaonga says that Chipata Central Constituency has 9 centres where people can get their voters cards.
Ms. Kaonga however, indicated that people who are in areas that might not have been reached will be captured during a mop up exercise.
