Residents in Katete district have complained over the overgrown grass in the district.
The residents told Breeze FM Staffer, Gift Phiri in Katete that the council is only slashing grass in main roads, leaving the compounds.
They say that they are worried that diseases such as malaria might break out if the situation is not controlled.
And Katete District deputy Council Secretary, Nason Nyanji acknowledged that the local authority is not slashing grass in compounds because they do not have enough money to pay casual workers doing the work.
Mr. Nyanji however, says that the council will look into the matter.
He encouraged owners of plots that were given by the council to be slashing the grass and keep their environments clean to avoid diseases.
