Patrick Mwanawasa has focused on facilitating development in Eastern Province.

Newly appointed Eastern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Patrick Mwanawasa has pledged to implement development in the region through various investment opportunities.
Mr Mwanawasa has told Breeze News today that the province has a lot of economic opportunities, which need to be exploited.
He says it is saddening that most of the investment opportunities are being exploited by foreign investors at the expense of the local people.
Mr. Mwanawasa singled out the forest industry, which he says has been abused by foreign investors, instead of Zambians taking advantage of the resource to improve their lives and the country’s economy.
And Mr. Mwanawasa says initiatives such as crocodile breeding can help in generating local revenue in Eastern Province.
The deputy permanent secretary says that he looks forward to engaging various investors who will be setting up various plants in the province.
