Patriotic Front candidate in the Mpongwe parliamentary by-election, Gabriel Namulambe has scooped the seat.

Patriotic Front PF candidate in the Mpongwe parliamentary by-election, Gabriel Namulambe has scooped the seat.
Mr. Namulambe polled 4,600 votes followed by UPND’s Rabson Chilufya who polled 3, 060 votes.
Miniver Mutesa for MMD has polled 901 votes, while National Restoration Party NAREP candidate, Regan Ndhlovu got 588 votes.

One hundred and ten votes went to UNIP’s Ken Kuveya.

Out of 34,642 registered voters in Mpongwe Constituency, only 9,432 voted.
Meanwhile the Patriotic Front has scooped all the three local government elections namely Luswishi, Kanyenda and Musofu Wards.
The PF has also won the Basanga Ward local government seat in Itezhi-tezhi constituency and Lambwe ward seat in Namwala district.
