People in Eastern Province have been advised against burning forests.
Rolf Shenton from Grassroots Trust Limited says that rural income can only improve if people start to properly look after forests.
Mr. Shenton told Breeze News that forests have so many natural fruits and vegetables, which have a good market within and outside the country.
He says that burning forests is less like burning money considering that forests are also sources of medicines, which have a huge demand in Africa.
Mr. Shenton further explained that it is important for farmers to start thinking of how best they can improve soil fertility, which is the only way to improve crop yield.
Grassroots Trust Limited this week held meetings in Senior Chief Nzamane’s area where more than 750 farmers were in attendance.
