PF members demonstrate against post-election violence

Patriotic Front Party PF members in Eastern province yesterday carried out a peaceful protest against continued post-election violence in some parts of Southern and Western Provinces.

The more than 100 PF members expressed concern at the violence in Namwala District where suspected UPND cadres burnt down government offices.

Speaking when presenting their petition to Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo, PF Provincial Secretary Joseph Kolosa condemned what he termed as evil, uncivilized and barbaric act.

Mr. Kolosa says Zambia is a Christian nation and that if the violence being perpetrated by the suspected UPND cadres is allowed, unity, love and respect for one another will be destroyed.

He challenged the UPND leadership to control their cadres and teach them civility and how to core exist with fellow Zambians regardless of tribe and political affiliation.

Mr. Kolosa called on the Police to ensure that they arrest the perpetrators of violence.

And when responding to the petition, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo said that it was sad to note that violence has continued when permanent secretaries who act on behalf of ministers are in office.

Mr. Kasolo urged permanent secretaries in Southern, Western, North Western and the police inspector general, Kakoma Kanganja to make sure that law and order is followed.
