PF says draft constitution cannot work for Zambia

The Patriotic Front PF party says that the draft constitution cannot work for Zambia.
PF Deputy National Secretary, Mumbi Phiri says that this is because the draft is a copy of the Kenyan Constitution, which has failed to work in that country.
Speaking on Breeze FM’s Political Hour Programme, Mrs. Phiri charged that when she was Zambia’s high commissioner to Kenya, she saw how Kenyans differed most of the time because of the constitution.
The PF deputy general secretary further explained that Zambia cannot manage to implement some of the clauses, which recommend for introduction of salaries to mayors and councilors.
She says that this is why the governing party supports governments’ position for a piecemeal amendment of the constitution through parliament.
And Mrs. Phiri says that government cannot be blamed for poor harvest recorded in the 2014/2015 farming season because it was caused by insufficient rains.
She also says that government is addressing the issue of high prices of mealie meal through the purchase of milling plants, which will be put in provincial centers.
Meanwhile Mrs. Phiri says that the PF supports multi-party politics contrary to suggestions that it is advocating for a one party state.
