PF Vubwi District Chairperson arrested for beating up journalists

Police in Chipata have arrested Patriotic Front Vubwi Chairperson Mike Tembo, for beating up two journalists Peter Sukwa from Post Newspaper and Kelvin Phiri from Feel Free radio station.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Alex Chilufya confirmed this to Breeze News, stating that Tembo was arrested on Friday.
Mr. Chilufya says Tembo has been charged with assault and will appear in court in Chipata tomorrow for mention, after which he will appear for plea in Vubwi.
And Mr. Chilufya says investigations are still underway on suspected PF cadres who stormed Breeze FM last November.
He says police will not relent but arrest all perpetrators of political violence, before, during and after the August 2016 elections.
Mr. Chilufya says police will arrest people who stormed Breeze FM and other cadres who are suspected to have been among those that beat up the two journalists.
He has urged people to uphold peace and unity during and after campaigns and election time.
