Police has started screening the 288 people who were arrested in connection with the riot at Katete Stores yesterday.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Grace Chipalila who is in Katete has confirmed this to Breeze News.
Ms. Chipalila however, says that the arrested people have not yet been charged.
And. Ms. Chiplaila has refuted allegations that the police have failed to do their job on the brutal murder of Naomi Daka, who was a pupil at Katete Day Secondary School.
The Police Commissioner says that police have so far arrested three suspects and are still investigating the matter.
Meanwhile calm has returned to Katete district following yesterday’s riot at Katete stores by angry residents over the killing of Naomi Daka.
Ms. Chipalila says that the situation is calm today and people are attending to their normal duties.
Ms. Chipalila says that police officers are patrolling in the district.
