Police in Chipata have arrested two notorious criminals, who escaped from Mukobeko Maximum Prison in Kabwe district.
Police Deputy Commissioner for Eastern Province, Alfred Nawa confirmed the arrest of the two criminals to Breeze News.
He identified the duo as Derrick Mwape, 31 of Chief Chisina’s area in Mkushi district and Kedrick Sada Phiri, 38 of Chief Mpezeni’s area in Kayeka village.
Mr. Nawa says that police carried out an ambush around 01 hours today and arrested Mwape at Luangeni village and later arrested his colleague who was hiding in his girlfriend’s house in another village.
He explained that police recovered an AK 47 magazine with seven rounds of ammunition from Mwape.
Mr. Nawa further said that the two criminals were serving murder sentences at Mukobeko Maximum Prison.
He says that the criminals are currently being transferred to Lusaka for interrogations and will later be taken back to Mukobeko Maximum Prison.
