Police in Chipata have recovered stolen properties worth about 30, 000 Kwacha.
Speaking to journalists, Eastern Province Deputy Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa explained that the police have been conducting a crackdown in compounds and industrial area for two days on some of the breakings happening.
Mr. Nawa stated that four men involved in the stealing have been apprehended.
He says that one of the men is specialized in stealing and selling bicycles, stating that 8 bicycles have been recovered.
Some of the other things that have been recovered are LG plasma screen, home theatres and jackets from Nabvutika and Kapata. Some of the stolen items were recovered in Chadiza.
The police also impounded three corolla vehicles used by the perpetrators in their operations.
And Mr Nawa stated that some things were stolen from a police club at Chipata Central Police Station.
Meanwhile Mr. Nawa says that police this morning apprehended some men who were about to break into the Omnia but the guard alerted the police in time.
