Police in Eastern Province say that they will not stop impounding unregistered taxis.

Police in Eastern Province have warned taxi operators, who will not abide by the law to register or paint their vehicles that they will face the law.
Deputy Police Commissioner for Eastern Province, Alfred Nawa told journalists that police and RTSA, the Road Transport and Safety Agency will continue impounding the vehicles that are not registered and painted and arrest the drivers.
The regional deputy police chief says that vehicles that will be impounded will only be given back to the owners after they have registered with RTSA, so that they can be paying tax to government.
Mr. Nawa says that Eastern Province is the only place where taxi drivers have chosen to disobey the rules and regulations of RTSA by not registering and painting their vehicles.
He says that taxi operators will be given a grace period in which to paint the vehicles because it is an expensive.
