Police in Katete district have charged 230 people, who participated in last weeks’ riot with riotous behaviour.

Police in Katete district have charged 230 people with riotous behaviour.
Eastern Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Alfred Nawa told Breeze News that these are from the 288, who rioted over the death of 19 year old Naomi Daka, a former Katete Day Secondary School Pupil.
Mr. Nawa told Breeze News this morning that the suspects will appear in court soon for mention.
And Mr. Nawa says that the remaining fifty eight people have been released.
He says that 56 out of the 58 are school going pupils, while two are security officers, who were on duty on the day of the riot.
Mr. Nawa says that police had to exercise lenience on the school going pupils and warned them accordingly because they are writing their end of term examinations.
Mr. Nawa explained that the two Security officers were mistakenly picked because they did not produce their identities to prove that they were on duty.
