Police in Lundazi were yesterday forced to intervene in a fracas that erupted between two factions of the ruling PF, Patriotic Front Party at the district commissioner’s office.
Breeze FM Correspondent, Mtambwa Nkhoma reports that trouble stated when a group led by PF District Chairperson, Manfred Banda visited the district commission, Janet Mvula to brief her on a meeting which the party held in Chasefu Constituency.
Mr. Banda explained that it was while he was briefing the district commissioner that he was told that another group led by PF District Youth Chairperson, Samson Nyirenda was demanding that he comes out of the office failure to which they would break down the door.
A fracas ensured between the two camps when Mr. Banda came out of the office and was only saved when alert police officers intervened.
And District Youth Chairperson, Samson Nyirenda explained that they had visited the DCs office to expose the District Commissioner, whom they accused of fuelling confusion.
Mr. Nyirenda said that Ms. Mvula was funding the Manfred Banda led group because she is interested in contesting the Chasefu parliamentary seat in 2016.
However, when contacted Ms. Mvula denied any wrongdoing stating that she understands that roles of a district commissioner do not include politics.
