Police launch investigations into alleged corrupt activities by five traffic police officers in Chipata.

Police have officially instituted investigations into alleged corrupt activities by five traffic police officers while carrying out their operations on the road in Chipata.
Police acting spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga says that once investigations are completed, the law will take its course.
He said this in an interview with Breeze News on Sunday morning.
Last week, Eastern Province Minister, Malozo Sichone who conducted an operational tour to find out how traffic officers work at road blocks, discovered that the officers were extorting money from motorists.
This was after the Minister boarded a taxi moving on airport road, which was over loaded and the taxi driver was asked to pay 100 Kwacha by the officers without giving him a receipt.
And the officers were found in possession of over 3 thousand Kwacha, which was stashed in a plastic bag in a private vehicle, but the receipt book only recorded about five hundred Kwacha.
