Poor grade nine results at Kasuma Basic School angers parents.

Lack of qualified teachers has led to the failing of all pupils who sat for grade nine exams last year at Kasuma Basic School in Chief Mishoro’s area.
Parents Teachers Association PTA Chairperson, William Zulu told Breeze News that it is sad that none of the grade nine pupils who sat for exams qualified to grade Ten.
Mr Zulu says that the school only has six qualified teachers while the rest of the teaching staffs are volunteers.
He says that the shortage of teachers and lack of seriousness in teaching has contributed to the failure of the grade nines.
Mr Zulu explained that pupils spend most of the time working instead of learning.
He added that parents are not happy because the school administration has refused to allow all the pupils who failed the exams to repeat at the school.
Mr Zulu appealed to the District Education Office to visit the school and find out the cause of poor performance because the school has never had such bad results since its existence.
And when contracted Provincial Education Officer, Allan Lingambe stated that he needed to get an analysis report for Chipata to confirm that no one passed at Kasuma Basic School.
Mr. Lingambe however, indicated that he was aware that schools in Chipata district performed poorly.
