Poor mobile phone network has been cited as a biggest challenge in the implementation of some educational projects in Chipata District.
District Education Board Secretary, Hebert Mwiinga says it is regrettable that some parents under the intervention have had challenges to access the SMS stories to use at home.
He was speaking during the Makhalidwe Athu, All Children Reading Writers’ workshop in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr. Mwiinga explained that due to poor network, some parents have not been supporting their children fully because they cannot receive the stories locally known as Nthano on time.
Mr Mwinga has called upon the mobile network providers to improve their service delivery especially in the rural parts of the district if the project is to be scaled up to the other districts of Eastern province.
The USAID funded project aims at providing extra reading materials via mobile phones owned by parents in twenty schools in Chipata and Lundazi districts.
