Poor police public relation worries Soweto residents

People of Soweto area in Chipata have appealed to the Eastern Province police command to train police officers on how to best to deal with the community.

Soweto vice Branch Chairperson John Zulu says that most members of the community are scared of police officers because of hash language they use.

Mr Zulu noted that people in the community have a lot of information, which can assist police officers curb crime but they need to be treated with respect.

He observed that a few times that he has dealt with the police, he has discovered that their language is that of intimidating people even those that have not committed any offence.

Mr Zulu says that it is important for the police to work closely with the community especially with recent criminal activities that have been recorded.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Alex Chilufya could not be reached for comment by news time.
