Poor sporting facilities hindering football development in Eastern Province.

Poor sporting facilities in Eastern province, has been hindering the development of football in the region.

Chairperson for the FAZ division one south promoted side, Petauke United, Donald Sakala, says that this makes sports teams from the region less competitive, when they meet teams from other regions such as Lusaka, the Coppebelt and Southern Provinces.

Sakala also says that lack of exposure among players has been affecting the performance of football teams in Eastern Province.

He explains that most players playing for football teams in Eastern Province have no exposure to advanced and more competitive leagues such as European football.

Sakala says that his club has therefore, identified 9 players from Lusaka for possible signing, as the team prepares for the coming season.

And Sakala has urged the local business community in the province to support football clubs in the region.

Sakala says players need proper motivation to put in their best.
