Post Newspaper Proprietor Fred Mmembe granted 30,000 Kwacha cash bail.

The Lusaka Magistrate court has released Post Newspaper Proprietor Fred Mmembe and Journalist Mukosha Funga on 30,000 Kwacha cash bail each with two working sureties.
This is in a case where the duo is facing one count of publishing classified information.
Magistrate Humphrey Chitalu ruled that the magistrate court had jurisdiction to grant bail in cases that are only tried in the High Court provided that the accused persons met the bail conditions.
Magistrate Chitalu said the state’s rejection to grant bail to the accused persons bail was misconceived and lacked merit.
The Post Newspaper on April 17, 2015 published an article which stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission director general had written to the president, informing him that the ACC was investigating, special assistant to the President for political affairs, Kaizer Zulu, for soliciting for one million US dollars from a Chinese contractor in order for him to fix an appointment with the president.
