Operational challenges have hit some boarding secondary schools in Eastern Province due to power outages
Studying hours for pupils in the evenings are being affected while preparation of food is also a serious challenge.
Authorities in some schools have complained that the consistent power outages are likely to affect pupils in examinations classes.
And Provincial Education Officer, Allan Lingambe says that his office is lobbying ZESCO, through the Permanent Secretary’s office to reduce power outages in boarding schools.
Mr. Lingambe also indicated that his office has advised school administrators to procure generator sets or solar panels so that study times for pupils especially those in examination classes is not affected.
He also urged pupils to take studies seriously and reduce dependency on power for studies.
