Preparations to rehabilitate Lutembwe Dam Two in Chipata start

Procurement procedures for rehabilitation works at Lutembwe Dam Two in Chipata have begun.
Eastern Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director Lytone Kanowa says that this is to address the issue of demand having outstripped supply.
Mr. Kanowa explains that some places in Chipata are getting a trickle of water at night due to the limited supply of water.
He however, expresses hope that the construction works can begin before the end of the year so that the issue is resolved.
The managing director observes that this year has been the most challenging for the water utility company owing to the increased hours of load shedding which have affected water supply.
And commenting on the encroachment of the dam area, Mr Kanowa says that Chipata Municipal Council has been engaged to see how they can permanently put an end to the encroachment.
He further says that plans are in place to see how they can best deal with those that have already encroached onto their land.
