President Edgar Lungu has advised political parties participating in the Petauke Central parliamentary by-election against tribal politics.
Speaking during a political rally to drum up support for PF, Patriotic Front Party candidate, Dora Siliya at Petauke Day grounds, Mr. Lungu further advised the political parties to maintain peace.
He said that it was important for Zambians to promote the motto of “One Zambia One Nation”.
President Lungu stated that it was also important for the electorate to remain united during and after the parliamentary by-election slated for June 30.
And the head of state urged Petauke residents to vote for PF candidate, Dora Siliya during Tuesday’s by-election.
He explained that Petauke Central Constituency will develop if people vote for a candidate from the ruling political party.
Meanwhile a motor cyclist died on Friday morning after being hit by a police vehicle that was trailing the presidential motorcade in Mambwe District.
Provincial Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo confirmed the incident to Breeze News.
Mr. Kasolo, however, says that the circumstances that led to the accident are still unclear as investigations have been instituted.
He says that the driver of the police vehicle has also been admitted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
And Mr. Kasolo has clarified that the vehicle that was involved in the accident was not part of the presidential motorcade, but rather trailing behind the motorcade.
The accident is said to have happened at Malumpa village as President Lungu was being taken to Mfuwe International Airport, to board a plane to Petauke.
