President Edgar Lungu has appointed 8 district commissioners for Eastern Province with Katete District Patriotic Front Chairman, Joseph Makukula taking a position in Katete.
Another PF member, Paradius Sakala has been appointed District Commissioner for Sinda district.
This is according to a press statement availed to Breeze News by President, Edgar Lungu’s spokesperson, Amos Chanda.
Former Petauke District Commissioner, Velenasi Moyo has bounced back while Kaisa Peter Kaunda who was district commissioner in Katete has also returned his position but sent to Nyimba.
Former Nyimba District Commissioner, George Phiri has been re-appointed but sent to Chadiza district.
Kalunga Zulu for Chipata and Janet Palukani for Lundazi have maintained their positions.
However, Paul Phiri for Chadiza and Janet Mvula for Sinda have not been re-appointed while information on Mambwe district is missing from the list of appointed district commissioners.
President Edgar Lungu has also appointed and transferred seven district commissioners in Muchinga Province and seven district commissioners in Northern Province.
He has directed the appointees to apply themselves fully to public service by ensuring that they spearhead and coordinate developmental projects in their respective districts.
Mr. Lungu has stressed that those who underperform will be removed from the public service forthwith.
The president has directed the secretary to the cabinet to ensure that all district commissioners are put on performance based contracts with strict annual assessments.
