President Edgar Lungu calls for peace to attract more investment.

President Edgar Lungu says Zambia needs to remain peaceful in order to attract more foreign direct investment into the country.

President Lungu says the country can only attract the much needed investments in the economy as investors only invest their money where there is peace.

President Lungu who was represented by Patriotic Front PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya, at a church service at RCZ, Reformed Church in Zambia Katoploa congregation in Chipata, says investments are important for the growth of the economy to enhance the social and economic status of citizens.

President Lungu urged Zambians to remain peaceful and united even as the country prepares for next month’s Presidential and general elections.

He pointed out that there is need for Christians to continue praying for peace before and after the August 11 polls.

And President Lungu observes that Zambians are agitated by politicians who say that they will not accept the election results if they lose.

He says the PF will accept the outcome of the elections because it believes that it will be a reflection of the desires of the Zambian people.

He also urged Zambians to participate in the elections and ensure that the country does not go for a re-run because it will be costly.

Earlier, RCZ Katopola Congregation Reverend in charge Joshua Daka stressed the need for all political parties to remain peaceful in their campaigns.

Reverend Daka said political leaders should not despair but remain focused even when criticized as not all people can support their ideals.
