President Edgar Lungu has congratulated the Zambia National Soccer Team for their victory over Sudan in yesterday’s Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In a message to the Football Association of Zambia FAZ, the Head of State says he was delighted by the splendid performance of the Chipolopolo Boys and encouraged them to work even harder.
The President has announced that he will this Sunday lead the National team to offer them full support in their return encounter with Sudan scheduled to take place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The President has assured FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya that he will offer all necessary support to the National Team to enable them qualify to the Russia 2018 World Cup Finals.
The Head of State is pleased that the regular meetings the FAZ Executive has been holding are yielding results and assured the association of Government’s continued support.
This is according to a statement availed to Breeze News by President Lungu’s spokesperson, Amos Chanda.
Meanwhile Liberia’s Musa Bility has been ruled out as a candidate for the Fifa presidency following integrity checks.
Football’s world governing body has approved five of the presidential candidates, with suspended Uefa boss Michel Platini also not included.
Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa and Tokyo Sexwale have been approved.
