President Edgar Lungu is today expected to assent to the constitution amendment bill.
This means the bills which were approved by parliament towards the end of last year, will turn into laws.
The ceremony will be held today at Heroes Stadium, where hundreds of people will gather to witness the historic event.
Among the bills that are expected to turn into law today is Fifty Plus One threshold for a winning presidential candidate and the presidential running mate.
This means that for one to become president, he or she must get more that 50 per cent of the total votes cast and a rerun will take place among the top two, in an event where no one gets the required percentage.
Another notable bill is the setting of the second Thursday of August as an election day in an election year.
