President Rupiah Banda has been arrested by the government joint investigative team.

Former republican president, Rupiah Banda has been formerly charged and arrested in connection with procurement of the Nigerian oil, which was not beneficial to the Zambian government.
Mr. Banda has also been charged with abuse of authority contrary to section 99, sub section 1, cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Investigative Team Spokesperson, Namukolo Kasumpa has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Banda, stating that he is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
She says that Mr. Banda has been released on a 500 Kwacha rebased bond. As part of his bond Mr. Banda was also asked to provide two working sureties and surrender his passport.
Mr. Banda is also expected to continue appearing before the government joint investigative team despite his arrest for further interrogations next week on Thursday.
