Provincial administration demands for a list of best and poorest performing schools in the 2012 poor grade nine results.

District Education Standards Officers DESOs, in Eastern Province have been directed to compile a list of the best and poorest performing schools in grade nine results in their districts.
Provincial Education Officer, Thomas Mwanza further says that the list should include the worst and best performing subject teachers.
Mr. Mwanza explained that this will help the ministry to monitor and assist teachers on how to improve in their subjects.
The directive comes following the province’s poor performance in grade nine results where close to 13 thousand pupils out of 24 thousand failed to make it to grade ten.
Mr. Mwanza told the DESOs during a review and planning workshop that the Provincial Administration needs the report because they are concerned with the bad performance recorded last year.
He says DESOs should ensure that they carry out their monitoring work professionally than sending fear in teachers and later perceiving them as enemies.
The Review and Planning workshop is being held under the theme “improving learners’ performance in 2013- the role of Standard Officers”.
