Economic shocks have prevented the provincial administration from achieving the target of growing the regions’ economy by 50 per cent.
Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone says poor crop buying prices, the fall of the Zambian Kwacha against the US dollar and power load shedding have had a negative impact on the region’s economy.
Mr. Sichone has noted that all these economic shocks have not only affected Zambia but many countries in the region and globally.
The minister says that the provincial administration intends to put in place measures to address the situation through an investment meeting with the business community.
He however, says that the province has attained about 20 per cent economic growth due to various business activities and creation of about 3,000 jobs in the construction industry.
And Mr. Sichone revealed that some businesses in Eastern Province have started exporting their products to Mozambique following a business trip that was conducted to that country early this year.
Provincial administration faces challenges to achieve 50 per cent economic growth.
