Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone has distanced government from a scam where about 300 people have been swindled out of over 1 million kwacha.
And Mr. Sichone says that the scam is a wakeup call to government officials to be careful when dealing with people investing in Eastern Province.
Speaking to Breeze News, Mr. Sichone says government does not know the owner of Ikulile Initiative Enterprise.
He says that it is wrong for anyone to suggest that because Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo officiated at the event, where Ikulile launched their operations in the region, then government sanctioned their activities.
And Mr. Sichone has called on DEC, the Drug Enforcement Commission to quicken their investigations so that affected people can be given their money.
He further called on the police to arrest all those associated with Ikulile Initiative Enterprise, stating that he is aware that there are some officials from Ikulile visiting the province.
The minister says that it is regrettable that people’s money, which they worked hard to earn, could be stuck with Ikulile following the Bank of Zambia’s decision to freeze their bank accounts.
