Eastern Province PF, Patriotic Front Party Vice Chairperson ChishalaChilufya has been arrested for causing death by careless driving.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Grace Chipalilahas confirmed the incident, which happened on Wednesday around 15:00hrs.
Ms Chipalila says that a cyclist identified as, Fordson Banda, of Katete was trying to cross the road when he was hit by the vehicle driven by Mr. Chilufya near Chibuya area in Sinda District.
She says that Banda sustained a deep cut on his head and died on the spot.
Ms.Chipalila says that Mr.Chilufya has been arrested and will appear in court soon.
Mr Chilufya is reported to have been driving from Petauke to Chipata when the incident happened.
