Rainfall activities in Eastern Province to continue until end of March.

The Meteorological Department in Eastern Province says rainfall activities are expected to continue until the end of March.

Provincial Meteorological Officer, John Londolo, says farmers should therefore, not be too worried over the late replanting of early maturing seed varieties.

He explained that there is also a possibility that the rainfall activities may spill over into April, which will help crops mature.

Mr. Londolo was responding to some farmers in the province, who were not sure whether to continue replanting crops in fields that have been affected by crop eating pests.

The farmers felt that because the rains started early this farming season, rainfall activities may reduce before their replanted crops mature.

And in a brief weather forecast, Mr. Londolo says afternoon thunderstorms and rains are expected to continue over the weekend.
