Reduced subsidised farming inputs spark complaints among farmers.

Some farmers in Chief Madzimawe’s area in Chipata have complained over government’s decision to reduce the allocation of subsided fertilizer bags for the 2016-2017 farming season.

Kwacha Kunja Cooperative Spokesperson, Ledati Soko told Breeze News in a telephone interview that government has reduced the packs allocated to their cooperative from 14 to 12 this year.

Mr. Soko says that this will have an effect on the production of crops and lead to high levels of hunger.

Mr Soko says Camp Agriculture Committees CACs are expected to start asking farmers to fill in forms so that they start receiving their packs early next month.

He says his cooperative has 60 members adding that the number of packs is not enough for each member to benefit.
