Chipata Central Member of Parliament, Reuben M’tolo Phiri has cleared speculations that he is not a recognised Member of Parliament for Chipata Central constituency.
Addressing journalists in Chipata this morning, Mr. Phiri says that he is the duly elected MP for Chipata Central because his seat has not been nullified and ECZ, the Electoral Commission of Zambia, made it clear the he was duly elected.
Mr. Phiri says that even if the matter is still in the courts of law, he is going to be sworn in as an MP for Chipata Central at parliament on Friday this week.
He says that he is now concentrating on working hard to see to it that development is going on in the constituency.
Losing candidate, Lameck Mangani on August 8, 2013 filed a petition asking the Lusaka High Court to nullify the election of Mr. Phiri alleging that he did not qualify to contest the seat.
