Two people have died while four others are admitted to Chipata General Hospital, after being involved in a road traffic accident along the Great East Road.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Eugene Sibote confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr. Sibote says that Edward Mwale aged 31 of Katete district sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot while another unknown female, also died on the spot.
Mr. Sibote says that the accident happened around 11 hours near Lutembwe Bridge in Madzimoyo area when the driver of a Toyota Corolla registration number ALL 9197, Wilson Banda aged 23 of Ibex Compound in Katete district lost control and careered off the road.
Mr. Sibote says that the driver, who also sustained serious body injuries, is admitted to the Chipata General hospital with three other passengers.
He says Mwale’s body and that of the unknown female is currently in the Chipata General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
