A secret task force will be set up to expose any corrupt activities in this year’s maize marketing in Eastern Province. Provincial Minister, Malozo Sichone has told Breeze News that this follows corrupt activities, which some depot clerks from FRA, the Food Reserve Agency were involved in last marketing season. Mr. Sichone says that members of the task force will not be known to ensure that they pounce on depot clerks that are corrupt and are selling FRA empty grain bags. He revealed that last marketing season some depot clerks were asking farmers to give them a bag of maize in order to facilitate purchase of their crops by FRA. Mr. Sichone says that he cannot understand how depot clerks who receive salaries could be so heartless to steal from poor farmers, who struggle to produce maize. The minister has warned that anyone, who will be involved in corrupt activities, will not only lose their jobs but will be arrested and prosecuted.
