Severe hunger is looming in Sinda District following the poor rainfall during the 2014/2015 farming season.
Sinda Member of Parliament Levy Ngoma confirmed this to Breeze News.
Mr Ngoma has appealed to relevant authorities to ensure that they send relief food in anticipation of the looming hunger in the district.
According to a crop assessment exercise conducted by Zambia vulnerability assessment committee under DMMU, the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit, only Chadiza, Chipata and Vubwi will face food shortage at household level by October this year.
However, more districts like Nyimba have already started receiving relief maize for starving villagers.
