Shortage of anti-rabies vaccines has hit Eastern Province.

Low supply of anti-rabies vaccines has hit Eastern Province due to shortage at Medical Stores in Lusaka.

Provincial Medical Officer, Dr. Abel Kabalo has told Breeze News that health institutions who have run out of the vaccines should buy their own vaccines, using grants.

Dr. Kabalo says the procurement of the vaccines by the institutions is vital to cushion the burden, which the Medical Stores is currently facing.

And the provincial medical officer says the province has enough essential drugs adding that people should not worry.
Meanwhile, 41 people who were affected by bubonic plague at Kavyeni village in Nyimba District are responding well to treatment.

Dr. Kabalo says only three people died of suspected bubonic plague adding that the health officers have responded to the disease outbreak.
