Shortage of mealie meal has hit Chadiza district for the past two weeks.
And residents have complained that the shortage has resulted in the price increase of bags of maize.
Grace Zulu told Breeze News that a 50 Kilogramme bag of maize, which was previously selling below 70 Kwacha is now being sold at between 80 and 85 Kwacha.
Another resident, Hilda Chulu says that it is too early for the increase in mealie meal and maize prices because people are still cultivating.
And traders of the staple food say that it is hard to access mealie meal due to high demand.
