Shortage of midwives has hit Chipata Central hospital.
Provincial Medical Officer Abel Kabalo confirmed this to Breeze News.
Dr. Kabalo says that the recently upgraded central hospital has few midwives to conduct delivery services.
He says the hospital has fourteen enrolled midwives and six registered midwives.
Dr. Kabalo says the hospital still needs more midwives as it records eight hundred to one thousand deliveries per quarter every year.
