The Immigration Department in Chipata has received a sixteen year old Zambian female of Kitwe.
Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka says that this was after she was repatriated from Malawi when she presented herself to the Malawian authorities.
In a statement availed to Breeze News, Mr. Nshinka says that it is believed that the girl was trafficked to work as a housemaid in Malawi in 2015.
She has been handed over to the Department of Social Welfare.
Meanwhile the Immigration Department arrested a total of fifty eight persons for various immigration offences, including forty foreigners.
Mr. Nshinka says that the arrests were made during a clean-up operation which covered selected parts of Lusaka including Mumbwa road, Makeni and Chaisa areas.
Mr. Nshinka says that the operations were conducted between 24 and 26 February, 2017.
