Some businesspersons in Chipata are trying to frustrate road works of expanding the Umodzi Highway.
Chipata District Commissioner, Kalunga Zulu says he has received reports of some business people from the second class trading area, who are complaining of being disturbed by the earth moving equipment.
Mr. Zulu says that government will not tolerate anyone trying to disturb the road works because people were told about the project before the road works started.
He says that the Portuguese engineer, Motor Engeil has the right to report anyone trying to frustrate his works to the police because he has to complete the project by December this year, which is the contract deadline.
And Mr. Zulu says works of expanding Umodzi Highway are progressing well and will be completed before the end of this year.
He says that the contractor is already working on the deviations and putting culverts on some Bridges, while companies with underground installations are also relocating their network to pave way for the construction works.
