Some cotton companies in Eastern Province have made a minimal increase in the buying price for cotton.
Cotton Association of Zambia Board member Michael Banda told Breeze News that the prices have gone up from two kwacha ten ngwee to two kwacha fifty ngwee.
Mr Banda says farmers who are harvesting their produce will now be able to sell their cotton at a reasonable price.
And Mr Banda has expressed disappointment with cotton companies who are confiscating properties from loan defaulting farmers in the 2015 marketing season.
He says cotton companies should understand that the 2014/2015 farming season was one of the challenging years, stating that most of the farmers did not reap according to their expectations.
