Government says stalled road works on the Sinda-Petauke stretch of the Great East road will resume soon.
Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo told Breeze News that this follows the conclusion of changes on payment to the contractor, three weeks ago.
Mr. Kasolo says officials at the Attorney General’s office are through with making changes on the percentage of payments done to the contractor, Condrill and the remaining balance.
Mr. Kasolo says Condrill would have incurred loses the time when the Zambian Kwacha depreciated because the contract document provided for payment to be done in both United States dollar and Zambian Kwacha.
He says that this was the reason why the works were put on hold so that the percentage of payment and balance can be worked out.
Mr. Kasolo says the contractor has already been communicated to about the progress and is ready to resume works anytime.
