Stalled works of rehabilitating dip tanks in Lundazi district resume

Government has started making payments to contractors who have been contracted to rehabilitate a number of dip tanks across Lundazi district.
Msinja Enterprise Director Alista Banda, who is one of the contractors, confirmed the development to Breeze News.
Mr. Banda stated that government has so far paid him 28 per cent of the total contract sum.
He has indicated that his company has already re-mobilised to site to complete the remaining works which are near completion.
Mr. Banda, who has been engaged to rehabilitate Mkanile, Ndunga, Zenekeza and Mkomba Dip Tanks, says that the company is set to complete the remaining works by 20th September this year.
And Mr. Banda has appealed to government to consider putting up a deliberate policy of giving loans to local contractors if they are to perform quality works.
Mr. Banda noted that late payments and inadequate funds by local contractors contribute to shoddy works.
Works of the dip tanks stalled due to lack of funds from government.
